This extraordinary multi-day tour combines two real highlights: the beautiful and popular Tegernsee and Germany's highest mountain – the Zugspitze. On one of the most varied routes in the Bavarian Alps – through the ‘Blue Land’ – our hike takes you over peaks, green alpine pastures and scenic high-altitude trails into the Reintal valley and up to the Zugspitze.
Accompanied by experienced mountain guides, we experience new scenic highlights every day – from the boat trip across Lake Tegernsee, to the Benediktenwand with its ibexes, to the Zugspitze massif.

Tour itinerary:
Day 1: We meet in the morning in Gmund am Tegernsee. After a quick equipment check, we start with a boat trip across Lake Tegernsee to Bad Wiessee. From there, we hike to our first summit, the Ochsenkamp. At the summit, we enjoy the view over Lake Tegernsee and can already see part of our route ahead.
Depending on the weather and conditions, we will either follow the ridge to the Seekarkreuz or stay on the good paths below the summit and hike directly to our destination for the day, the Lenggrieser Hütte.
Ascent: 1100 m • Descent: 500 m • Distance: 15 km • Walking time: approx. 5–6 hours
Day 2: After breakfast, we descend via the Grasleitensteig to Lenggries. There we cross the village on foot and take the opportunity for a well-deserved lunch break.
Refreshed, we tackle the ascent below the Brauneck cable car and walk up to the Brauneck summit hut, our destination for today. From the Brauneckhaus, we can enjoy a sweeping view over the Isar Valley and the route we have covered.
Ascent: 900 m • Descent: 700 m • Distance: 15.6 km • Walking time: approx. 6 hours
Day 3: Today's route offers particularly beautiful scenery. Passing the idyllic Stie-Alm, which is perfect for a short break, we continue over the Probstalmsattel and finally below the imposing rocks of the Benediktenwand to the Tutzinger Hütte. Depending on the weather, we may even hike to the summit of the Benediktenwand. As this stage is relatively short, there will be plenty of time to look out for ibexes along the way – the chances of seeing them are particularly good here!
Ascent: 610 m • Descent: 840 m • Distance: 10 km • Walking time: approx. 5 hours
Day 4: From the Tutzinger Hut, we descend via the Glaswandscharte and the Pessenbacher Schneid. The Staffelalm below the Rabenkopf invites us to take a leisurely break before we continue on our way towards Walchensee. After a few bends, we reach the pass road between Kochelsee and Walchensee, where our transfer to Wallgau is already waiting to take us to our accommodation.
Ascent: 600 m • Descent: 1070 m • Distance: 14 km • Walking time: approx. 6 hours
Day 5: After a restful night in the valley, we set off on the long stage to the Weilheimer Hut. Via the Wallgauer Alm, we walk on good paths between Hoher Kiste and Krottenkopf until we finally reach the hut, which is beautifully situated in the saddle between Krottenkopf and Oberer Rißkopf. Here we enjoy the evening with a fantastic sunset.

Day 6: Well refreshed, we hike over the Estergebirge mountains to the Wankhaus – one of the most beautiful panoramic mountains in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. We cross below Kareck and Bischof to Hoher Fricken. We climb steadily along the ridge and finally reach the summit of Hoher Fricken (1940 m). After a long break with a view over the Loisach Valley and Garmisch, we continue our descent towards Ochsenberg and reach the Esterbergalm. From there, we either climb directly to the Wankhaus or take a leisurely break at the hut before starting the final ascent. In the afternoon, we celebrate a successful day on the sun terrace of the Wankhaus.

Day 7: We start off relaxed with a descent on the Wankbahn cable car. After a short walk through Garmisch-Partenkirchen, we reach the ski jump and continue hiking to the entrance of the Partnach Gorge, which we walk through. Following the course of the Partnach, we continue via the Bockhütte into the Reintal valley until we finally reach the end of the valley and the Reintalangerhütte – our destination for today. We can cool our tired legs in the clear water in front of the hut while enjoying the impressive mountain scenery around us.
Ascent: 750 m • Descent: 150 m • Distance: 18 km • Walking time: approx. 5.5 hours
Day 8: Today is the final day of our tour: the hike to the Zugspitze via the Reintal valley. We set off early in the morning and hike steadily at a moderate pace towards the Zugspitzplatt plateau. After a while, we reach our first stop, the Knorrhütte hut, where we take a short break before continuing across the Zugspitzplatt plateau to the Sonnalpin.
Here we take one last break before facing the final 400 metres of elevation gain through the rope-secured south face – probably the most challenging section of the tour. Focused and step by step, we master this ascent and finally reach the Zugspitze platform, where an unforgettable view awaits us.
The descent is comfortable, taking the cable car or cog railway back down to the valley, where we conclude the tour at the station in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. A unique experience full of mountain panoramas, adventure and unforgettable impressions that will remain in your memory for a long time to come – and be captured in numerous photos.
